Intra-Oral Imaging

MENLO PARK DENTIST, JOSEPH SARKOSH DDS

Far are days when a dental patient was not a part of the dental exam.  Today's technology provides a patients to see exactly what the dentist sees. Intra-oral cameras are roughly the same size as a pen and are fitted with a camera and light. The camera then transmits the images to a computer screen or television monitor. You'll be able to see right away a fractured tooth, abscess, or cavity. In the case of the intra-oral camera, a picture may be worth more than a thousand words!

At your first exam, Dr. Joseph Sarkosh will take pictures of your teeth, gums and any other tissues he feels are in need of attention.  Those images are displayed on a computer screen in front of you as you are seated in the dental chair so that he can discuss any problems with you directly.  An intra-oral camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your teeth and gums.

These images allow us to make a more accurate diagnosis and develop a better treatment plan for each patient. A faster, more accurate diagnosis means less chair time for you! It also allows you to see everything we see and know everything we know!

Show and Tell

Many patients struggle to understand why they need complicated dental procedures when they aren't experiencing any pain or see no visual evidence that the procedure is needed. Intra-oral cameras allow patients to see the state of their mouths in real-time rather than being shown difficult-to-understand x-rays or listening to the explanation of the dentist. Instead, patients can see the doctor's diagnosis with their own eyes. This means that you too can visualize cavities, decay, chips, cracks, gum disease, specific areas where there is infection and so forth. In other words, you will see whatever the doctor sees!

Dr. Joseph Sarkosh is a firm believer that patient education is key in understanding their oral health.  By providing this technology he ensure patients education at every step.
